Lifesaving Organ and Tissue Transplant Solutions
We collaborated with BioMedInnovations (BMI) to transform the company into BMI OrganBank®—a respected provider of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic research platforms founded on patented cardiovascular-emulating CaVESWave® technology.
This innovative approach enables ex vivo research into the effects of therapies on organs preserved outside the body. We introduced the term "OrganBank" to draw parallels with the well-understood concept of a "blood bank," effectively illustrating how this advanced system can be utilized to create both mobile and static units for perfusing donated organs.
This innovation significantly extends organ viability for transplantation, ultimately enhancing the number of lifesaving transplant operations.
Today, BMI OrganBank offers a comprehensive organ preservation system that supports multiple organs simultaneously. The system employs controlled pulsatile perfusion with an oxygenated acellular perfusion solution in a temperature-regulated environment. It is equipped with monitoring capabilities for each hosted organ, displaying crucial perfusion parameters such as perfusate flow, temperature, pressure, and vascular resistance.
